Women at the Center

The purpose of the University of Vermont’s Women’s Center Newsletter is two-fold: to create a mechanism to recognize the achievements of women on campus and to build community among women.

Networking was the first newsletter dedicated solely to women at the University of Vermont. It was created by a committee of women spanning across campus, although localized within the Women’s Center and the Women’s and Gender Studies Department. Thirteen volumes of the newsletter were produced in 1986 and continued until 1999. For a couple of years, no such publication existed. Later, a group of students and staff at the Women's Center created the Women's Center Zine which is still published three times a semester. Although this provided a forum to discuss important issues affecting the lives of women, the objectives listed below were still not being served. In the fall of 2005, Women's Center staff and students thus created this newsletter. We hope you enjoy.
